Freestanding bath beside microcement walls and floor

Microcement / bathrooms

A calm finish.Control throughout the build-up.

Walls, floors and selected details can form one visual whole. The result, however, depends on the complete wet-area build-up — not only the final surface.

Wet areas

A bathroom cannot be approved on the strength of the claim “microcement is waterproof” alone.

We first establish where the surface will be used, what lies beneath it and who is responsible for each layer.

Before confirming the scope

We assess the complete build-up.

A small bathroom is not always a small scope. Junctions and coordination can matter more than the area itself.

01

Substrate

Structure, stability, cracks, moisture and existing layers.

02

Wet areas

Preparation, waterproofing and places exposed to regular water contact.

03

Falls and drains

Floor geometry, drain location and the junction with the grate.

04

Transitions

Corners, services, glass, fittings, bath and adjacent materials.

More than the final layer

Zone. Detail. Responsibility.

Zones of use

A dry wall, a floor and an area exposed to regular water require different solutions.

Drains and penetrations

Falls, grates, services, glass and fittings must be coordinated before the decorative surface.

Scope of the quote

We define which preparation VPD accepts and where responsibility depends on earlier work.

What shapes a bathroom quote

Junctions and light

In a bathroom, every detail works every day.

The character of the surface develops during application. A sample sets the direction, while scale, light and hand application give the room its own rhythm.

Frequently asked questions.

Is microcement in a bathroom waterproof?

The safety of a wet area depends on the complete solution, not a single description of the finish. We assess the substrate, preparation, falls, drains, junctions and the method of protection.

Can microcement be used in a shower?

It can be considered for a shower zone, but it requires a project-specific assessment. We need information about the substrate, wet-area preparation, falls, drain and service penetrations.

Can it be applied over old tiles?

Sometimes, if the tiles and the layers below are stable. We assess adhesion, grout, cracks, moisture and geometry.

How should microcement be cleaned in a bathroom?

Follow the guidance provided at handover and avoid aggressive chemicals or unapproved mechanical cleaning methods.

Does a small bathroom mean a small scope?

Not always. Drains, niches, service penetrations, corners and protection of fittings may matter more than the area itself.

What should I send for the first assessment?

Send photographs of the complete room, wet zones, drain, corners and services, together with approximate area, substrate information, location and preferred timing.

Initial assessment

Show us the whole bathroom, not only the inspiration.

For an initial assessment we need to see the room, wet areas, drains and difficult junctions.

Enough to get started

  • the whole room from several angles
  • wet areas, drains and falls
  • corners, services and junctions
  • substrate, area, location and preferred timing
You do not need to know the technical system or prepare a complete specification.
